Where Can the Diaspora Vote Make a Difference?

Compared to 2018—the first time out-of-country voting was allowed—the overall number of Lebanese who registered to vote abroad increased by 145,984 individuals, reaching 225,624 in 2022.

Most Lebanese registered to vote from abroad are in France, the US, Canada, the UAE, Australia, Germany, and Saudi Arabia. The largest increase in registered voters, compared to 2018, has been in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

The largest number of diaspora voters are from North 3, Beirut 2, and Mount Lebanon 4.

These 3 districts are also the ones where the diaspora could make a difference, as the share of voters they represent is close to the electoral threshold. By contrast, the difference between the share of registered voters and the electoral threshold is more than 10%.
